WGC Ambassador - Adam Horn
Wellington Golf Co. Q&A with Adam Horn
We first met Adam Horn last fall when he and a Wright State teammate made a golf trip to Charleston and teed it up at Charleston Municipal Golf Course. What started as a chance meeting quickly turned into a friendship, and we've enjoyed following his collegiate career ever since. Now, with his time at Wright State complete, Adam is turning his attention to a busy summer schedule that includes U.S. Amateur qualifying, the Dayton Metropolitan, Ohio Open, Ohio Amateur, and a Monday pre-qualifier for the Wyndham Championship. Before the season gets underway, we caught up with Adam to learn more about his journey in the game and what's ahead.

June 22-25 Dayton Metropolitan (Winners gets exempt into US Am)
June 29-July 1 Ohio Open

WGC:
You recently wrapped up your career at Wright State. Looking back on your time there, what are some of the biggest lessons, memories, or moments that you'll carry with you as you transition into the next chapter of competitive golf?
Adam Horn:
The biggest lesson I’ve learned during my time at Wright State is to always keep the fun in golf alive. Our seasons are long and demanding, filled with qualifiers, tournaments, school, and travel. With how much time and effort we put into this sport, it can be easy to get caught up in the results and the negativity that comes with them. As I move on to the next chapter of my golf journey, I want to make a conscious effort to enjoy the process, appreciate the opportunities the game gives me, and never lose the passion that made me love golf in the first place.
WGC:
Every golfer's story starts somewhere. What first got you hooked on the game, and when did you realize golf could become something you wanted to pursue at a high level?
Adam Horn:
I think what first got me hooked on golf was my dad taking me to high-level college and professional events at a young age. He brought me to tournaments like the Illinois Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club, the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, and even the Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club. Watching those elite players take on such incredible golf courses completely drew me into the game.
Once I got to college, I had the privilege of being surrounded by teammates with exceptional talent and work ethics. Being around players of that caliber inspired me to approach my four years in college more like a profession than a hobby. Their influence pushed me to raise my standards, invest more into my development, and ultimately pursue the game at the next level.

This summer schedule is loaded with opportunities, from U.S. Amateur qualifying to the Ohio Open and Ohio Amateur. How are you approaching the season, and what goals have you set for yourself over the next few months?
Adam Horn:
I’m not approaching this season much differently than I have in previous summers. After a long, brutal winter, I’m finally starting to hit the ball the way I know I can. Throughout the summer, I’ll continue focusing on the key fundamentals in my swing that allow me to play my best golf. Just as importantly, I’ll keep working on staying present over every shot, committing fully to the process, and executing each shot to the best of my ability. My goal is to stay focused on what I can control and trust that the results will take care of themselves.
WGC:
You've got several pathways to the U.S. Amateur on your schedule this summer, whether through qualifying, the Dayton Metropolitan, or the Ohio Amateur. How much motivation does that opportunity provide, and what would earning a spot in the championship mean to you?
Adam Horn:
In my opinion, playing in this country’s biggest amateur tournament is one of the highest honors in amateur golf. Since this is my final season as an amateur, that alone gives me plenty of motivation to make the most of it. My brother qualified for the championship in 2022 at Ridgewood and had our dad on the bag. It would mean a lot to me if I’m able to do that with my dad again, as well.
WGC:
Looking ahead, you've got some major qualifiers on the schedule, including a potential trip to Q-School this fall. Where do you see your game right now, and what areas are you focused on sharpening as you chase the next level of competitive golf?
Adam Horn:
I think my game is in a good spot right now. While I would have liked to play a little better this past spring, I still see a lot of potential in where my game is headed. The area I want to focus on most moving forward is sharpening my mental game. I know how hard I work on the physical side of golf, but to take the next step, I believe I need to continue improving mentally. If I can do that, I think it will have a significant impact on my performance in the long run.
Wellington Golf Co. is proud to support Adam as he begins this next chapter, and we'll be following along throughout the summer.
