2026 Major Staff Bags
One of the traditions I look forward to each golf season has nothing to do with the competition itself. It is seeing what the major equipment manufacturers create for their limited-edition staff bags and headcover collections for the four men's major championships. These bags have become an event of their own, giving fans something to anticipate in the weeks leading up to each championship while showcasing the creativity of each brand's design team.
The best collections go far beyond simply changing a color scheme. Every panel, zipper pull, embroidery detail, and lining is usually tied to the championship or its host location. The Masters bags often feature azaleas, Magnolia Lane, or other iconic Augusta imagery. The PGA Championship and U.S. Open bags typically draw inspiration from the host club, surrounding city, or local history. The Open Championship collections frequently celebrate the host region through Scottish or English heritage, coastal landscapes, maritime themes, or links golf traditions. Even the matching headcovers are often packed with hidden details that make the collections feel thoughtfully designed rather than simply branded merchandise.
Not every manufacturer approaches the majors the same way. TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, and Srixon have embraced these annual releases and consistently produce some of the most creative collections in golf. Titleist, on the other hand, generally stays true to its timeless white and black Tour staff bag, choosing consistency over limited-edition releases. Ping has traditionally taken a similar approach, rarely producing one-off bags for each major championship.
Below is my ranking of the 2026 major championship staff bag collections. The brands are presented in order of my favorite overall collection, while each collection follows the sequence of the majors themselves: The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship.
TaylorMade
Cobra
Callaway
Srixon
If I had to choose a favorite individual bag from the 2026 major season, it would be TaylorMade's U.S. Open staff bag. Inspired by Southampton, New York, its nautical and sailor theme was unique, clean, and executed exceptionally well without feeling overdone. My overall favorite bag of the year, however, wasn't from a major championship at all. That honor goes to Cobra's "Juice" staff bag created for the 2026 Players Championship. It was one of the most distinctive bags released all season and deserves an honorable mention alongside this year's major collections.
TaylorMade
Cobra
Callaway
Srixon
*Srixon did not produce a new staff bag specifically for the PGA Championship this year at Aronimink outside of Philadelphia, PA. Instead, they release a boxing glove driver head cover in honor of the boxing ties to Philly.
Honorable Mentions
Rickie Fowler’s tribute bag to Arnold Palmer for the Arnold Palmer Invitational made by Cobra
Cobra’s Juice bag for the 2026 Players Championship tapping into Florida inspiration
Ping’s USA themed bag that releases this summer for the US Open. They did not produce a bag for all the majors.
